Firstly, Serena Williams, and her career is still alive at the US Open after she took out the number two seed Anett Kontaveit.
Kontaveit gave her a stern test, but Serena had enough to come through to match with a 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 win.
“You know there’s no rush here, Serena Williams said on court after the match, “I’m loving this crowd – it’s really fantastic. There’s still a little left in me. We’ll see.”
In other news, Amanda Anisimova has had terrible luck since Wimbledon, revealing that she broke her toe ahead of playing her first round US Open match.
After losing in the second round of the Canadian Open, Anisimova had to withdraw from the second round of the Cincinnati Open ahead of competition in New York lamenting the bad luck that has followed her on social media after:
“Damn the last couple of weeks have been tough,” she began on social media. “I broke my toe in Cincinnati last week, and I’ve done everything I could to get ready for the Open.

Moving on, Naomi Osaka is considering learning some tricks from ATP star Carlos Alcaraz as she seeks to recapture her best hitting on court.
“Lately I felt really restrained. I’m not really sure why. I’m beginning to feel like I can’t hit the shots that I know I can, like especially on my forehand” explained Osaka after the match hinting at a new approach…
“I don’t know if it’s a matter of practising more or something like that. I just don’t have the same feeling. So maybe I need to watch like Alcaraz or someone that’s really good at hitting forehands.”

And lastly, Emma Raducanu is ready for the challenge and novelty of playing smaller WTA tournaments as she is tasked with building her ranking after the US Open.
The world number 11 will fall to at least 80th in the world after the competition finishes in New York as the 2,000 points she gained from her 2021 triumph drop from her ranking.
“It could be exciting for me to start my kind of climb back up there in these tournaments in the rest of the year,” she continued. “I actually think for me, the most exciting thing is trying to do well at each of the different tournaments, regardless of what it is.
