ASICS launch updated version of the Solution Speed tennis shoe


Leading tennis shoe and apparel brand ASICS have released the Solution Speed FF 2 which includes significant technology improvements

Headquartered in Kobe, Japan, ASICS is a leading designer, manufacturer and retailer of high-performance athletic footwear, apparel and accessories

The Solution Speed shoe is aimed at tennis players that rely on fast and dynamic court movement to support their style of play. Currently the shoes are worn by David Goffin, Alex de Minaur and Jennifer Brady, three players renowned for being some of the quickest on tour.

However ASICS often refer to their Japanese heritage and principle of ‘Kaizen’ that underpins their business ethics. ‘Kaizen’ literally means “continuos improvement” hence the need to launch the 2nd version of the Solution Speed.

Rene Zandbergen is Head of Footwear Innovation, Tennis at ASICS Europe and he said, “To improve the SOLUTION SPEED tennis shoe, we spoke to many all-court players of all levels, and they all told us one thing – speed from the baseline is most important for their game, they rely on being faster than their opponent, while also covering the entire court, so with the new SOLUTION SPEED FF, we set out to make it lighter, faster and more flexible.”

Founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka, the company name is derived from the Latin saying Anima Sana In Corpore Sano (“A Sound Mind in a Sound Body”)

David Goffin is in Australia preparing for the first Grand Slam of the year in his new Solution Speed trainers. He has said, “The hardest thing as a player, is to stay ahead of the ball while covering as much of the court as possible. With the new Solution Speed FF 2, I feel lighter and faster, which I didn’t think was possible after playing in the last version for so long. I can also feel a better grip on the court. So, no matter how much I change direction, I always feel confident that my shoes will hold up.”

Tech developments in this new version of the Solution Speed include an improved midsole – FLYTEFOAM™ and FLYTEFOAM PROPEL combine to provide the softest, lightest cushioning yet. Also ASICS GRIP ™ technology that “reduces slipping at takeoff, giving all-court players the confidence and peace of mind that no matter where they move court, they will not slip or lose control.”
