‘I prepare to give everything’ – Felix Auger-Aliassime basks in team glory after best season ever
Felix Auger-Aliassime has completed an incredible 2022 of team tennis, being as a critical part of the winning side in the ATP, Laver and Davis Cups, but it’s the stunning knock on effects for his personal record that he may look back on with most relish.
To kick things off Auger-Aliassime, part of Canada’s new ‘golden generation’, alongside Denis Shapovalov, Bianca Andreescu and Leylah Fernandez, claimed the winning match as his country won the third and final ATP Cup back in January.

The 22-year-old then represented team world at the Laver Cup, for the second consecutive year. The Canadian came up with the goods again, as he picked up a crucial win on the final day against Novak Djokovic, to help give Team World their first win in five attempts.
And now Auger-Aliassime has played another huge part in his team’s success, by winning all three of his singles matches as well as a crucial deciding doubles, as Canada won the Davis Cup for the first time in its 122 year history.
By doing so he matches Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev, who both won the same team competitions in 2021.

“I feel like when I come on the court to play for our team or to play for my country, I just really lock in on the moment, and I prepare myself to give everything, to not be down on myself,” said Auger-Aliassime.
This form in team events has also translated to his individual year in 2022, which has been his best to date. The Canadian had a miserable record in finals prior to this year, having lost all of his first eight, however, he has faired much better over the past 12 months winning four titles, including three in the space of as many weeks.Consequently, he was rewarded with a space in the ATP Finals alongside the seven other best players of the year.
